A checklist for the COVID-19 inspection checklist for schools is used to ensure that all necessary preventive measures have been taken and followed by the organization to stop the spread of the COVID 19 virus. It helps with the care within the childcare environment and prepares the facility to operate safely even in the midst of the global Covid-19 pandemic. This checklist can be adapted to include specific steps for implementing social distance in the provision of care or education in a school institution.

Process & Procedure
Have internal notices on staff notices been published for all relevant updates of Covid-19?
Start identifying relevant sources for pandemic health policy guidance and keep informed of officially recommended and required actions in the existing legal systems.
These sources include the World Health Organisation, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control and country-specific public health guidelines.
Have all staff been informed of the guidelines on temporary remote working?
Managers should consider changes to reduce overcrowding, such as facilitating remote working, shift work and perhaps changes in workplace layout. Such measures can help protect workers from infection and protect organizations from liability.
Are reliable systems in place for real-time communication with public health workers?
Ensure that regular updates are received from government, local authorities and all relevant and legitimate agencies. Ensure that these are communicated as soon as possible to frontline staff and then to parents and carers.
Have senior managers been adequately trained on the effects of Covid-19?
Have staff been given accurate information on how to prevent the spread of the infection?
Are employees aware of the symptoms of Covid-19?
Symptoms of coronavirus
The main symptoms to watch out for are

When children are picked up: the parents ring the doorbell and are checked to see if they are the right caregivers, the parents. The children are allowed to enter the space between the inner and outer doors, the teachers withdraw and the parents are invited to come in to pick up the children.
General Cleanliness and Hygiene
Have the cleaning measures been reviewed to ensure that high-risk contact areas and points of contact are regularly disinfected?
Ensure that public areas such as counters, doorknobs and elevator buttons are disinfected regularly!
Ensure that appliances used by staff and children are dishwashed daily and are not shared.
Have the classrooms been prepared before and after use as described below?
Chairs cleaned, including the underside where children touch them.
Each child is assigned a chair to prevent the chairs from having to be changed.
Remove all deformable materials and utensils if necessary.
Ensure that children have their own pencil case and equipment.
Children should sit well apart (max. 2 per table)
Children are reminded of hand cleanliness - wash hands every 30 minutes.
Gloves must be worn when handling food or anything that comes into close contact.
Where possible and safe, windows and doors are opened to allow general dilution ventilation of the rooms.
Staff wear gloves.
The personnel wear gloves on delivery.
Employees who wish to hand over the delivery by leaving the threshold and ringing the doorbell, step back and make sure that the delivery is picked up.
Have all employees been informed about the protocols for washing hands at work?
As hand washing is one of the most effective deterrents, employers must ensure that employees have access to washing facilities at all times and that these are well stocked with soap and (ideally) paper towels.
These 5 steps should be followed each time:
1. Moisten hands with clean, running water (hot or cold), turn off the tap and apply soap.
2. Lather hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the back of the hands, between the fingers and under the nails.
3. Wash hands for at least 20 seconds. While doing so, hum the "Happy Birthday" song twice from beginning to end.
4. Rinse hands well under clean running water.
5. Dry hands with a clean towel or air dry.

It is absolutely necessary that all employees have access to the hand disinfectant!
The hand disinfectant must contain at least 60 percent alcohol - most hand disinfectants contain 60 to 95 percent alcohol.
Protocol for the Staff
Ensure that staff carry out cross-contamination control when leaving school. Ensure that hands and personal belongings are cleaned safely and that staff take off their clothes on return home and wash separately from other clothing. Staff should avoid contact with family and friends until they have done so. Decontaminate the areas where they have been.
Have scheduled conferences or meetings been postponed or cancelled?

Are external children, parents or carers informed about the host school protocol?
