PPE

PPE refers to clothing, helmets, gloves, face shields, goggles, or other gear designed to protect the wearer’s body from injury or infection.

It should be used in the workplace as follows:

Assess the work environment and identify hazards that require PPE

Select the appropriate PPE for the task and ensure it fits properly

Use and maintain PPE properly, following manufacturer’s instructions

Replace PPE when it becomes damaged, worn or obsolete

Train employees on when and how to use PPE

Regularly inspect and assess PPE for effectiveness and necessary repairs/replacements.
