Common questions

Can we get control charts with CP and CPK values out of this?

This is the decisive question, and it deserves a direct answer. Lumiform’s analytics section lets you analyze inspection data and filter results across criteria. However, native SPC outputs including control charts, CP and CPK values, and Gaussian distribution are not confirmed features within the current product knowledge. For Six Sigma-level process capability analysis, the Power BI integration is the realistic path: sync your inspection data daily to Power BI and build those control charts there. That keeps your measurement data in one place without reverting to Excel.

Can we analyze the measurement data collected during production inspections?

Completed inspection data flows into Lumiform’s Analytics section, where you can review results, filter by user, group, or category, and export data for deeper analysis. For the kind of measurement analysis you described, including seeing where you stand on process capability and where fluctuation requires action, connecting Lumiform to Power BI via the daily sync integration gives you visual, actionable output from the data your production workers capture on the shop floor.

Will Lumiform let our shop floor workers carry out and document dimensional checks digitally?

Yes. The Lumiform mobile app is built for exactly this operational use. Workers open assigned forms on their device, complete dimensional checks, and submit results directly from the shop floor. No paper, no transcription into Excel afterward. You can build templates that match your existing measurement inspection reports, assign them to specific workers or groups, and track pending and completed submissions in real time from the desktop.

How do we move our paper-based manufacturing process documentation into digital capture and evaluation?

You start by converting your existing paper forms into Lumiform templates. You can upload a PDF or spreadsheet directly, build from scratch, or use the AI tool to generate a template. Once templates are live, workers complete them on mobile devices instead of paper. Completed forms become reports immediately, stored and filterable in the system. The Analytics section then gives you evaluation capability you simply cannot get from paper or a folder of Excel files.

If we already have an ERP, will we end up entering the same data twice?

Lumiform offers API access and database integrations with MS SQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL, which are the primary routes for connecting to an ERP system. These are available as add-ons on the Professional plan or included in the Enterprise plan. Whether a direct ERP integration eliminates duplicate data entry depends on your specific ERP and how the connection is configured. Your IT department and Lumiform’s team would need to assess that together before you can confirm no media breaks remain.

Does the system automatically record who submitted what?

Every completed form in Lumiform is tied to the user account that submitted it. The system records submissions with user attribution, and completed reports are stored and accessible with that traceability intact. Managers can see which user completed which inspection, when it was submitted, and review the full report.

We’re growing production 70 to 100 percent — will this keep our measurement focus where it needs to be?

As production volume grows, Lumiform lets you scale inspection programs without adding administrative overhead. You assign templates to users or groups, schedule inspection frequency, and track overdue inspections from the dashboard. The Analytics section shows you where results are stable and where they are fluctuating, so you can direct increased inspection frequency to the areas that need it. Adding users and groups as your workforce grows is managed directly in the Administration section without rebuilding your setup.

We only do a limited amount of internal audits a year (e.g. 10-15) — is this tool going to push audit features on us?

No. Lumiform is a forms and inspection platform. You use the features relevant to your work and ignore the rest. If your priority is manufacturing quality controls and measurement documentation, you build templates for that and run those inspections. The platform does not require you to engage with audit scheduling or audit-specific workflows. Your 15 annual audits can sit in the same system without those features dominating your team’s day-to-day experience.

Will our IT department need to be involved before we can roll this out?

For basic rollout, including creating templates, adding users, and running inspections on mobile devices, IT involvement is not required. If you want to connect Lumiform to your ERP via API or set up database integrations with MS SQL, MySQL, or PostgreSQL, IT will need to be involved in that configuration. Single Sign-On is also available as an Enterprise add-on and would require IT coordination. The scope of IT involvement depends directly on which integrations you choose to implement.
