PES periodic examination scheme checklist

You must follow the PES timeline without exception—inspect your containers within 5 years of manufacture and then every 30 months after that. If you miss these deadlines, port or terminal authorities can reject your containers. Clearly mark the inspection date and Next Examination Date on the CSC plate so port authorities can immediately verify your compliance.

When a container fails inspection, you must take immediate action. Remove it from service and clearly mark it as “out of service” to prevent accidental use. Document exactly what failed – whether it’s a damaged corner post, compromised floor, or door seal issues. Create a detailed repair plan, complete the necessary fixes, and then have it re-inspected. Only after passing can you update the CSC plate with a new Next Examination Date and return it to your operational fleet.
