Food Storage Checklist Template


Dry Storage

The storage area is properly lit and with sufficient air circulation.
The storage area is free of any kind of poison (e.g. cleaning products and chemicals)
The storage area is kept dry and cool.
Stored foods are stored off the floor, apart from the walls and away from direct origins of heat and sunlight
The storage temperature is kept between 10°C to 15°C (50°F-59°F)
The storage area is cleaned and free from rodents and vermin.
The storage area has a lock and key.

Refrigerated Storage

The refrigerator temperature is observed and recorded.
Dairy products are stored in a separate area and stored in protecting coverings/container
Refrigerator products are kept in containers or sealed in storage bags.
The refrigerator is in a good working condition.
The refrigerator is clean and clear of any spills and expired food.
The maximum refrigerator temperature is 4°C (39°F).
The refrigerator has a good seal and closes tightly.

Freezer Storage

The freezer has enough open, slotted shelving
Food is kept in freezer-safe containers or freezer bags
Label and date are shown on freezer bags or containers
Freezer has a suitable seal and closes tightly
The maximum freezer temperature is -17°C (0°F)
Frozen food like meat and baked goods are tightly covered with foil before storing in freezer bags
