Battery condition encompasses several factors: physical appearance (check for corrosion, bulging, or leakage), charge level (measured with a voltmeter), electrolyte levels in non-sealed batteries, and load testing capability. Poor battery condition is the leading cause of generator start failures, so this inspection point helps prevent the most common emergency power issue.

Add the manufacturer-recommended oil type to bring the level to the appropriate mark on the dipstick—usually between “add” and “full” indicators. Never overfill. Investigate why the level dropped: check for leaks around gaskets, seals, and connections. If oil consumption is recurring without visible leaks, schedule a more thorough engine assessment.
