Your project scope section should clearly define boundaries—what’s included and what’s excluded. Be specific about deliverables, features, and functionalities the project will provide. Include any relevant limitations or constraints that might affect implementation. This precision prevents scope creep and sets realistic expectations with stakeholders about what the final product will deliver.

Functional requirements describe what the system should do—specific behaviors, features, and capabilities users need. Non-functional requirements define how the system should perform—qualities like security, performance, reliability, and scalability. Both are essential; functional requirements deliver value directly to users while non-functional requirements ensure the solution works effectively in your business environment.

Present your BRD in stages rather than all at once. Start with high-level objectives and scope to gain directional agreement. Use clear, jargon-free language accessible to all stakeholders. Include visual elements like diagrams or flowcharts to illustrate complex concepts.
